2013-2014 schedule

K-8th Grades

This month we will have fun “reconstructing” the dispersion from the Tower of Babel and get a taste of what life might have been like during that time.  We will look at some of the different tribes of people that spread out around the world and see how the archaeological and other evidence supports the Bible’s account of history.  We will tackle questions about “ape men,” “cavemen,” the origin of languages and different “racial” physical features, and the intelligence of ancient man from the lens of a Biblical worldview.

High School (9th – 12th)

The weather forecast is not conducive to the field trip the high school class was hoping to take, and because of low registration, we are going to cancel the high school class for this month.  We apologize for the change in plans.  High school students are welcome to register as 8th graders to join the oldest class.

K-8th Grades

After last month’s cancellation, CSC will make another attempt at blasting off to the moon! :)  We will use our Biblical glasses to explore what the moon is like and how God designed it just right to help sustain life on Earth.  Through the descriptions of creationist astronauts, we will get a taste of what it was like to walk on the moon. We will also look at what the moon really “tells” us about its age and formation.  The truth of David’s words in Psalm 19:1-2 are very evident when we look at our nearest neighbor in space: “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge.”

High School (9th – 12th grades)

Our high school class will have a regular classroom session during the normal time from of 9:30 A.M. to Noon.

This month we are going to extend our study of the Grand Canyon by shifting our focus from geology to biology.  We will learn about some of the fascinating creatures that live in and around the Grand Canyon and will use this study to help build a foundation for a Biblical worldview.

The high school class will take a field trip to the Creation Experience Museum in Strafford (http://cmoto.org/).  Registration will begin at 9:00 A.M., and they will leave the church right at 9:30, so make sure you are signed in and ready before then.  They will return to the church at 12:30 P.M.  Families with students in both groups are welcome to wait at the church and watch a video during the half-hour gap between the two dismissal times.  In order for us to arrange transportation, high school students attending the trip must be registered by THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10TH.  If you wish to provide your own transportation or if you need to cancel a registration, please email Kelly at CreationSciClub@gmail.com.

September 14th Meeting

Full-Day Kick-off!

Welcome back!  We are getting ready to kick off a new CSC year with a full-day meeting!  Just like last year, the event is free but you must sign up  at September 14th registration.  We also ask that if for some reason you realize you will not be able to attend, that you email Kelly at CreationSciClub@gmail.com to cancel your registration.

K-8th Grade

For our first meeting on September 14th, we will “visit” the Grand Canyon.  We will take advantage of the extra hours to build a Biblical worldview by learning/reviewing the 7 C’s of history and connecting what we see in the Grand Canyon to the Bible’s true account of history.  Through a variety of hands-on experiments and explorations, we will learn how the rock layers and formations, fossils, animal life, etc. at the Grand Canyon testify of an amazing Creator, the global Flood of Noah’s day, and the accuracy of the Genesis account.  We will also build a foundation in some key geology concepts that will be built upon throughout the year.

Registration will begin at 9:00, and our meeting will be from 9:30 to 4:00.  If you are not able to stay for the whole day, you are welcome to come and go for the parts you can attend, but please remember to always come in and sign your child in and out.  Everyone needs to bring a SACK LUNCH.

High School (9th – 12th)

The high school class will be going on a field trip to Busiek State Forest.  Registration will begin at 9:00.  They will leave right at 9:30, so you will want to make sure you are signed in and ready before then.  They will return to the church at 4:00.  We are working on assuring enough transportation, so please register as soon as possible.  The deadline for high school students to register is Thursday, September 12th. You can also help us in planning by letting us know if you plan to provide your own transportation by sending an email to CreationSciClub@gmail.com.

Participants need to bring a SACK LUNCH and dress appropriately for a day exploring the outdoors.  If the weather is not favorable for an outdoor trip, they will visit the Creation Experience Museum (http://cmoto.org/) instead.

In order to attend the field trip, students need to have a permission slip signed by a parent or legal guardian.  You can print the form from the link below, or it may be filled out at the church if the parent/legal guardian will be there that morning.
